One of girls’ favourite social event is to go to high tea and chit chat about what’s going with one another. More importantly, we girls like to dress up for a high tea party and take a bunch of photos. (*at least that’s really important for me lol* =p) In today’s post, I am going to talk about how to dress for high tea, which is to be sophisticated, elegant but at the same time not trying too hard and over-the-top, after all, we need to remember we are dressing for high tea, not a wedding. =p
Questions I get asked from ladies are: What shoes should I wear to high tea next weekend, lace? shoes? Yes it is a major decision. You want to be classy and elegant, but again, not too over-the-top.
In this post, I was wearing a midi FLARED skirt paired nicely with a off-the-shoulder white top.
Try to avoid super short, mini skirts as we should always remember we are trying to keep things classy, not going to a night club or trying to hook up with someone! Duh*(staring emoji*)
You other options of skirts are:
- Pencil skirts
- Tiered Skirts
The key is to keep your skirts mid length, you never want to go too short or too much of a slip on the side as the last thing you want is to sit down, and won’t be able to get up without your friend’s or family’s help!
2. TOPS TO GO FOR:
After deciding on the skirt I want to wear, I spent quite a good while to decide on what kind of top would look good. Too save you girls some time, here are the tips:
- if you are wearing a flared skirt, go with tops that are close-fitting, in this case, off the shoulder works the best
- if you are wearing a pencil skirt, go with blouses that are a little more structured, or baggy (either casual or feminine),
***You never want to go all close-fitting because it would almost make you look like a hooker/going to a night club. Or you don’t want to go all baggy because it wouldn’t best flatter your figure!
**Another Shelltips: for most feminine looks, tuck your shirt/blouse in so your legs will look longer! ♥
3. SHOES TO GO FOR: HEELS or BALLET FLATS
Shoes are an important part of your outfit because they make a statement about who you are and your personality. For high tea occasion, skip the sneakers, and instead opt for classic ballet flats. I went for a pair of white heels I got from Zara, it matches perfectly with the outfit; I always love going for heels which the color matches a piece in my outfit !
4. ACCESSORIES & JEWELRY
Jewelry is always welcomed, but be sure not too wear too many items at once. An interesting necklace that offsets your attire is a good fit, as are bracelets and small earrings. If you find that you are already wearing a necklace, earrings and a bracelet right before attending the tea room, be sure to take off at least one item.
